It’s quite fine to be brave,
Heard that in a dream last night.
The dream didn’t make sense, to be honest.
I was on a train without windows or doors,
Open to see the world,
So close you could touch it.
Nothing made sense,
The story of most dreams.
Soon I was in danger,
Luckily I had unknown family members
Watching my back while we were on the run,
From fear, I guess,
Fear of our heritage,
Fear to embrace our past,
And love where we’re originally from.
A group of African men in traditional attire were chasing.
Didn’t really seem to like me.
We were in danger,
but we kept running as they crept behind us.
Soon we came upon a luxury European dinner,
And then I noticed we were the help,
Waiting on the so-called elites.
Seems like we preferred that only one of us
Was brave enough to take off our shoes.
Immediately they were asked to leave.
The Africans immediately started dancing,
And so did she,
And all I could do was stare as I watched them dance.
Trapped between two thoughts,
Not knowing what to do,
Soon I woke up.
I guess I wasn’t brave enough to make a decision.
When will I be?
